December 8  Freddy Silva presents: WHERE THE POWER LIES.

The grand design behind the global positioning of sacred sites
An exclusive 2-hr slide presentation

On the South Island of New Zealand sits one of the world's most powerful sacred sites.  And yet despite its isolation it does not stand alone.  As with other places of power, with the advent of global satellite imaging systems we are able for the first time in thousands of years to reveal and appreciate the strategic positioning of ancient sacred sites, and how they once formed part of a globally-aligned network of power points.

Scholars since the time of Plato have alluded to an ancient craft of geodetic alignment and energy manipulation that linked temples.  To this day such places, whether natural landmarks or megalithic structures, still exert a magnetic pull on our senses.

From the subtle angles encoded in pyramids to the alignment of temples that mirror whole constellations, we today are surrounded by a legacy whose scale is so massive that only through the latest global imagery can we now realize the scope and awe of our predecessors' vision.

November 24 Peter  Wohl, "Ecopsychology"

Peter says, "Ecopsychology has two main premises.  The first is that if we are deeply connected to the ecosphere, we will naturally want to preserve and protect it.  At the same time, this connection to nature can bring us healing and nurturance.  Therefore both our survival and the survival of the world depends on our creating this profound relationship.  This evening will draw from both Zen Buddhism and Ecopsycholgy to offer us a taste of this deep connection with the natural world."

April 28,  Movie NightEckhart Tolle's Findhorn Retreat Part 2

A two-day retreat at Findhorn, Scotland — famous as a spiritual center on the leading edge of personal and global transformation — offered an ideal showcase for Eckhart Tolle's transformative concepts.  Using his trademark light-hearted but penetrating style, Tolle explores in depth the concept of stillness and how to achieve it.  Only by doing so, says the author, can transformation occur.  Stillness offers a doorway into the Now and to true personal enlightenment, according to Tolle.  Too often, people become trapped in their mind-created sense of self.  He explains the compulsions that drive people’s thoughts as they analyze, interpret, and label every conscious experience they have, which results is an inability to perceive the sacredness in oneself and the natural world.  Eckhart Tolle's Findhorn Retreat offers serene sanity in a world in desperate need of it.

January 20,  Dances of Universal Peace with Michael Monahan

The Dances of Universal Peace are the work of Sufi Samuel Lewis and have been growing for the past 40 years to include most of the world.  The Dances use the sacred phrases from all the spiritual traditions, set to simple music with simple movements.  Everything is taught and everyone is welcome.  We'll do dances from the Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and Hindu traditions.  The dances can be meditative or joyful, often transformational.  "We join our hands, and with our hands, our hearts."  These are simple circle dances, often partner and progression dances; we do the singing, or feet do the dancing.  Seriously, these are easy and welcoming movements and the words will come.  The more the merrier!  Read more by going to www.DancesofUniversalPeace.org or www.Peaceworks.org
Mike says:  "I've been doing the dances for about 20 years and leading them for 15 years.   I'll go whenever, whereever to dance.  My other life is as a father of three beautiful kids, and the paycheck comes from painting signs...Signworks, in Farmington, Maine, just celebrated our 25th anniversary... and I get my jollies from doing and teaching calligraphy... my kids and I have put out a family calendar for the last 19 years with art, doodles, cartoons and calligraphies... Look forward to doing the dancing with you folks, and it's much more fun with more people... as a sidenote there's a lot of flexibility in choosing the dances and I don't mind taking requests... ie the sufi/islamic dances are very useful these days for widening the doors of understanding,   the Hindu dances are livelier and more entertaining,  and one of Sam's wishes was that we could dance the words of Jesus in Aramaic, the language of Jesus... trhere are several dances using the Lord's Prayer and the beatitudes as well as some of the "I Am" statements where we learn the Aramaic words.  There's a real energy here so I'm more than willing to follow the groups wishes."

November 4,  Movie Night:  Michael

After the box-office success of Phenomenon, John Travolta continued to charm audiences with this 1996 comedy-fantasy in which he plays a grubby angel who's got one last good deed to do before heading back to heaven.  Living peacefully in the rural Iowa home of an old, friendly motel owner (Jean Stapleton), the winged Michael (Travolta) is hardly the image of a perfect angel.  He's scruffy, unshaven, eats sweetened cereal by the box-full and chain-smokes all day long.  But when tabloid reporters (William Hurt, Robert Pastorelli) learn of Michael's alleged existence and head to Iowa to check him out, Michael soon realizes that it's his task to see that Hurt falls in love with an "angel expert" (Andie MacDowell) and breaks free from his habitually cynical attitude.  There's more to the story, of course (and Chasing Amy fans will recognize Joey Lauren Adams as a waitress who charms the angel), but Michael is more about the effect that this enchanting angel has on the earthbound humans around him.  Whether he's chipping away at Hurt's skepticism or attracting a crowd of women on a truck-stop dance floor, Michael is an enchanting figure, and Travolta plays him with just the right tone of humor, reverence, and effervescent charm.  Sure, it's lightweight fluff, but director Nora Ephron specializes in lightweight fluff, and Michael is the kind of feel-good movie that never wears out its welcome.  1997.  106 minutes

July 17, Movie Night: Everyday Grace w/Marianne Williamson

This live lecture originally aired on PBS.  In Everyday Grace, Williamson gives a 75-minute live lecture explaining why humanity needs to evolve beyond where it is and how miracles can play a vital part in individual and corporate transformation.   Usually a lecturer on the modern spiritual text, "A Course in Miracles", Marianne is easily able to move out of a strict Course perspective and apply the wisdom of religious thought into our lives.  The current age reflects a mechanistic, Newtonian worldview where the earth is as a large machine where we have very little power to change objects and events outside ourselves.  Echoing modern theories of Quantum Physics, Williamson asserts that when we observe and perceive something differently, the object itself changes.  She goes onto to say that our species is no longer well adapted for survival because we fight too much. We must evolve past the place where the only way we fix things is to destroy them-much like the mindset found in modern medicine.  In the Everyday Grace DVD, Williamson goes on to share five "magic wands" that can help us tap into a power that is in us, but not of us-that can do what we cannot do for ourselves.
